The 2012 Emilia earthquakes caused significant damage to existing precast reinforced concrete (RC) industrial buildings not specifically designed resist seismic actions. main failure mechanisms were related the loss of support beams and roof elements by high relative displacements, mechanical connections consequent fall cladding panels, at base columns collapse RC forks top columns. In all cases, behavior connections, beam-to-column demonstrated be crucial, given that they may inhibit exploitation strength ductility reserves in elements. This paper presents a connection restraint-device for buildings. device can applied structures transfer horizontal forces between increase energy dissipation system. Design criteria defined with aim limit maximum displacement interface mitigate out-of-plane overturning beam. Numerical analyses carried out define suitable shape investigate its effectiveness terms both local global behavior. To validate computational results, experimental tests have been also out. allowed classify as “dissipative” according UNI EN 15129.
